Seems like a smart move on paper, as he has a better chance if he’s not spreading his resources over two campaigns, but I don’t think he has much of a chance to receive the Republican nomination, meaning one of the sane voices talking about how to fix the economy could be out of a job next year. Of course, we’re probably better off without his foreign policy ideas…

You know, right after Obama was elected, I was one of those people that thought we were moving towards a “post-racial” America. It looked as though we could finally judge politicians based on policies, not skin color. However, we seem to have spun off in another direction; instead of condemnation for skin color, we get accusations of racism for disagreement.

Don’t get me wrong, there are racists at Tea Party rallies that want Obama out simply because he’s black. There will always be people out there that hate others for stupid reasons. However, as a whole, the Tea Party movement came about because people didn’t like the way this country was going (in other words, opposition to big government), and that’s the driving force behind the group to this day.

Jim Wallis is crying racism because it’s a conversation ender. He’s trying to shut up his opponents.

That being said, I’m not sure Palin has a chance in 2012. Her base followers love her, but those that hate her REALLY hate her. I think the Republican candidate with the best chance of winning is someone not on the national scene right now. They’re probably big in state politics somewhere, but I suspect they’ll show up out of the blue and really rev people up…sort of like Obama did in 2008.

Two words: Penn Jillette

In all seriousness, I really do like DeMint, but I have to disagree on this point. The fact that most social liberals vote Democrat seems to blur the lines on what they believe. However, if I’m not mistaken, one of the over-simplified definitions of a libertarian is someone who wants the government out of their wallet and out of their bedroom.

You can’t legislate morality, and I firmly believe education on social issues does far more to strengthen the family and whatnot than any laws could ever hope to do.
