The peace talks are a farce. They always are. It’s all part of a plan to make Israel look like the bad guy, all the while working to drive the Jewish people out of their land.
From the WaPo:
A Pentagon review of conditions at the Guantanamo Bay military prison has concluded that the treatment of detainees meets the requirements of the Geneva Conventions but that prisoners in the highest-security camps should be allowed more religious and social interaction, according to a government official who has read the 85-page document.
So, does this mean Gitmo stays open? I wouldn’t put money on it. The liberal view is always going to be that torture is morally wrong, and that these people should be in a normal prison, tying up our legal system, or just sent home (where they can regroup and attack us again). I expect Obama to stay on that side of the fence, no matter what any study he commissions says.

From Fox News:
The FBI is severing its once-close ties with the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, amid mounting evidence that it has links to a support network for Hamas.
Named as an un-indicted co-conspirator after a 15 year investigation that came to a head at the Holy Land Foundation trial. Yep, that’s a pretty good reason to sever ties.
Remember the scene in the movie Blow where George Jung (played by Johnny Depp) claimed to have entered prison with a Bachelor’s in marijuana, but was leaving with a Master’s in cocaine? I have the feeling we’ll be seeing the terrorism equivalent of that happening down in Florence really soon:
Gov. Bill Ritter supports the idea of bringing terror suspects to Colorado to be housed at the federal Supermax prison in Florence.
From IHT:
A Muslim scholar chosen to speak at President-elect Barack Obama’s inaugural prayer service Wednesday is the leader of a group that federal prosecutors say has ties to terrorists.
Honestly, things like this make me wonder if we’ve been duped or if Obama is just that naive about the connections of these people. Neither is good.
Also, while it’s entirely possible this is a mistake, do you really let someone with who’s ties are in question get that close to the President?
From Fox News:
A quickly growing jihadist group that used Facebook to spread its radical message has been shut down by the popular Web networking site after FOXNews.com alerted the company to the group’s activities.
I have to be honest, these are the types of things I initially write off as “silly.” However, online life is real life nowadays, and it’s good to see Facebook on top of these things.
The terrorist siege in Mumbai killed 195 and wounded 295, but they were hoping for more:
Azam Amir Kasab, 21, the only terrorist to survive a raid by Indian commandos, told authorities that the attacks included 10 terrorists in a heavily orchestrated plan devised six months ago, that hoped to kill 5,000 people — targeting mostly “whites, preferably Americans and British,” the Mail reported.
It was a bloody mess, but it could’ve been so much worse.
The siege continues, and I’m not sure it’s getting any better.
Black-clad Indian commandoes raided two luxury hotels to try to free hostages Thursday, and explosions and gunshots shook India’s financial capital a day after attacks by suspected Muslim militants killed at least 119 people.
From Fox News:
Al Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri insulted Barack Obama in the terror group’s first reaction to his election, calling him a demeaning racial term implying that the president-elect is a black American who does the bidding of whites.
For reference, here’s the amlocolm X speech referenced:
To understand this, you have to go back to what [the] young brother here referred to as the house Negro and the field Negro — back during slavery. There was two kinds of slaves. There was the house Negro and the field Negro. The house Negroes – they lived in the house with master, they dressed pretty good, they ate good ’cause they ate his food — what he left. They lived in the attic or the basement, but still they lived near the master; and they loved their master more than the master loved himself. They would give their life to save the master’s house quicker than the master would. The house Negro, if the master said, “We got a good house here,” the house Negro would say, “Yeah, we got a good house here.” Whenever the master said “we,” he said “we.” That’s how you can tell a house Negro.
If the master’s house caught on fire, the house Negro would fight harder to put the blaze out than the master would. If the master got sick, the house Negro would say, “What’s the matter, boss, we sick?” We sick! He identified himself with his master more than his master identified with himself. And if you came to the house Negro and said, “Let’s run away, let’s escape, let’s separate,” the house Negro would look at you and say, “Man, you crazy. What you mean, separate? Where is there a better house than this? Where can I wear better clothes than this? Where can I eat better food than this?” That was that house Negro. In those days he was called a “house nigger.” And that’s what we call him today, because we’ve still got some house niggers running around here.
This modern house Negro loves his master. He wants to live near him. He’ll pay three times as much as the house is worth just to live near his master, and then brag about “I’m the only Negro out here.” “I’m the only one on my job.” “I’m the only one in this school.” You’re nothing but a house Negro. And if someone comes to you right now and says, “Let’s separate,” you say the same thing that the house Negro said on the plantation. “What you mean, separate? From America? This good white man? Where you going to get a better job than you get here?” I mean, this is what you say. “I ain’t left nothing in Africa,” that’s what you say. Why, you left your mind in Africa.
On that same plantation, there was the field Negro. The field Negro — those were the masses. There were always more Negroes in the field than there was Negroes in the house. The Negro in the field caught hell. He ate leftovers. In the house they ate high up on the hog. The Negro in the field didn’t get nothing but what was left of the insides of the hog. They call ‘em “chitt’lin’” nowadays. In those days they called them what they were: guts. That’s what you were — a gut-eater. And some of you all still gut-eaters.
The field Negro was beaten from morning to night. He lived in a shack, in a hut; He wore old, castoff clothes. He hated his master. I say he hated his master. He was intelligent. That house Negro loved his master. But that field Negro — remember, they were in the majority, and they hated the master. When the house caught on fire, he didn’t try and put it out; that field Negro prayed for a wind, for a breeze. When the master got sick, the field Negro prayed that he’d die. If someone come [sic] to the field Negro and said, “Let’s separate, let’s run,” he didn’t say “Where we going?” He’d say, “Any place is better than here.” You’ve got field Negroes in America today. I’m a field Negro. The masses are the field Negroes. When they see this man’s house on fire, you don’t hear these little Negroes talking about “our government is in trouble.” They say, “The government is in trouble.” Imagine a Negro: “Our government”! I even heard one say “our astronauts.” They won’t even let him near the plant — and “our astronauts”! “Our Navy” — that’s a Negro that’s out of his mind. That’s a Negro that’s out of his mind.
Just as the slavemaster of that day used Tom, the house Negro, to keep the field Negroes in check, the same old slavemaster today has Negroes who are nothing but modern Uncle Toms, 20th century Uncle Toms, to keep you and me in check, keep us under control, keep us passive and peaceful and nonviolent. That’s Tom making you nonviolent. It’s like when you go to the dentist, and the man’s going to take your tooth. You’re going to fight him when he starts pulling. So he squirts some stuff in your jaw called novocaine, to make you think they’re not doing anything to you. So you sit there and ’cause you’ve got all of that novocaine in your jaw, you suffer peacefully. Blood running all down your jaw, and you don’t know what’s happening. ‘Cause someone has taught you to suffer — peacefully.
Is Zawahiri seriously trying to incite a race war?
From The Sydney Morning Herald:
Osama bin Laden is planning an attack against the United States that will “outdo by far” September 11, 2001, an Arab newspaper in London has reported.
It’s hard to say how accurate this is. Let’s face it, the fear of terror attacks is just as much of a tool as actual attacks in accomplishing a goal. However, in the past 7 years we’ve grown complacent, and it really seems the American people are migrating back to a pre-9/11 mindset in large groups. We’ve lost our grasp on the world we live in, and have forgotten exactly how dangerous Osama bin Laden really is.
As much as I’d like to say otherwise, I have a great fear that we’ll see another huge attack within Obama’s first year. The Republican party is seen as the one more ready to deal with terrorism, and I suspect our enemies will be banking on that.
The leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was nearly assassinated by poison, Israel’s leading news sources were reporting Wednesday, citing a report on an Iraqi Web site.
While the culprit is still unknown, it’s entirely possible Israel did this, as they’ve taken out other terrorist leaders in a similar fashion in the past. If that’s true, then it only reinforces an obvious message: don’t mess with Israel, because once they decide to act, they don’t screw around.
Honestly, though, it could be any number of organizations. The average terrorist leader has a lot of enemies, and I suspect the average lifespan is pretty short.
YouTube has been one of the greatest successes of the internet age.
Millions of people use the video-sharing website every day and it has spawned hundreds of imitators.
One of the most recent is AqsaTube – a site with a particular focus on Palestinian militant videos.
The write-up on this site from the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at the Israel Intelligence Heritage & Commemoration Center (IICC) can be found here.
So, the site is offline, but it doesn’t surprise me that it would be created. The Internet is a bastion of terrorist propaganda, just look at some of the stuff on YouTube! Running your own site guarantees your stuff won’t be deleted, and you get your message out to tons of sympathizers and troubled people that are easy to convert.
A Hamas-linked charity based in Ohio has sued the United States government in an attempt to wrest its assets free.
This charity, The Kindhearts for Charitable Humanitarian Development, is denying any involvement with Hamas. I’m not sure what’ll come of this, but there’s a lesson here for everyone: Investigate any charity you donate to!
Belgian banking and insurance group Fortis received an 11.2 billion euro ($16.37 billion) injection from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg Sunday, after two large European banks walked out of talks to acquire the company over the weekend.
I’ve come to the realization that economic collapse isn’t the scariest part of what’s going on. Don’t get me wrong, I think we’re in for a bitch of a recession for the next couple of years, but there are two things weighing on me.
1) In order to avoid all-out collapse, western countries are socializing their financial industries. Result? We’re one step closer to that singular socialist government the U.N. has been wanting. Unfortunately, socialism doesn’t work.
2) While us western countries continue to weaken financially, all of those oil-producing countries that sponsor terror are doing fine; the war on terror just became pretty lop-sided.
Needless to say, we’re in for some interesting times ahead…
An Arab terrorist from eastern Jerusalem ran over a group of soldiers and some civilians shortly before 11 p.m. Monday night at Kikar Tzahal (IDF Square) near the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem. The terrorist was driving a private vehicle, a black BMW, when he attacked opposite the entrance to the Old City. He was shot and killed by an IDF soldier in the targeted group.
I never know what to add to any of this, so I’ll just say it’s good to hear the victims only suffered moderate injuries. After the bulldozer attacks of this summer, it’s nice to see an incompetent terrorist for a change.
UPDATE: Since I posted this, the injured count has gone from 17 to 23, and one of the victims is in critical condition. I pray this person recovers. In addition to the obvious reasons for this sentiment, I’d hate for any terrorist to have the satisfaction of being successful.
I’m sure this comes as a surprise to nobody, however. I found the following at Joel Rosenberg’s blog, and it’s worth a read:
As horrifying as these operations were, however, they pale in comparison to what al Qaeda has been praying and planning for a decade at least: acquiring weapons of mass destruction – ideally nuclear weapons – to be used against the United States to kill between four and ten million Americans.Asked in 1998, for example, if al-Qaeda had nuclear or chemical weapons, bin Laden told Time magazine that “acquiring weapons for the defense of Muslims is a religious duty. If I have indeed acquired these weapons, than I thank God for enabling me to do so.” The timing of that statement was significant, for 1998 was the year that Pakistan tested nuclear weapons.
